Speckled, marbled and gloriously unpredictable, Monstera ‘Frozen Freckles’ is a striking variegated Monstera with foliage splashed in shades of green, cream and icy pale variegation.

Every new leaf brings its own pattern, from fine freckles and mottled sections to larger flashes of pale colour. As the plant matures and climbs, the foliage can become larger and develop the dramatic fenestrations Monsteras are famous for.

Give it plenty of bright indirect light, a chunky growing mix and something sturdy to climb. With variegation this good, every unfurling leaf becomes a tiny botanical lucky dip.

OUR THOUGHTS

No two leaves quite play by the same rules. One might arrive finely freckled, another heavily marbled and the next with huge flashes of icy cream. Add increasingly dramatic Monstera foliage as the plant matures and this is exactly the sort of plant that has you inspecting every new leaf before it's even finished unfurling.

GROW WITH CONFIDENCE

Looking After Your Plant

Watering

Allow the upper few centimetres of the growing medium to dry before watering thoroughly, then allow excess water to drain freely. Avoid keeping the roots permanently wet or leaving the pot standing in water. Reduce watering during cooler, darker periods when growth slows.

Light

Give ‘Frozen Freckles’ plenty of bright, indirect light. Its pale variegated sections contain less chlorophyll than the green portions of the leaf, so good light is particularly important for healthy growth. Avoid prolonged harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the lighter areas of the foliage.

Humidity & Temperature

Medium to higher humidity will help support healthy foliage and new growth, although normal household conditions can be suitable. Keep the plant warm with good airflow and away from cold draughts, radiators and sudden temperature changes.

Feeding

Feed with a balanced houseplant fertiliser around once a month during active growth in spring and summer, following the manufacturer's instructions. Reduce feeding during autumn and winter as growth slows. Avoid overfeeding.

Repotting & Growth

‘Frozen Freckles’ is naturally a climbing plant and benefits from a moss pole, coir pole or other sturdy support as it matures. Repot when noticeably root-bound, moving up only slightly in pot size and using a chunky, airy and well-draining growing mix. Aerial roots can be guided towards the support or growing medium.

Pet Safety

Monstera ‘Frozen Freckles’ is not considered pet safe. Its tissues contain insoluble calcium oxalate crystals which can cause irritation if chewed or ingested. Keep it safely away from cats, dogs and other curious pets, and contact your vet for advice if you suspect part of the plant has been eaten.

A NOTE FROM US

Light matters with this one. Those gorgeous pale sections can't photosynthesise as efficiently as the green parts of the leaf, so give Frozen Freckles a properly bright spot with indirect light. An airy mix, sensible watering and something sturdy to climb will help it produce increasingly mature growth.
