Bright, patterned and constantly doing its own little thing, Maranta ‘Lemon Lime’ is a beautiful Prayer Plant with layers of deep green foliage illuminated by vivid lime-green markings.

Its patterned leaves spread along low-growing stems, creating a wonderfully full plant that can eventually begin to spill gently over the edge of its pot. As evening arrives, the leaves can lift and fold upwards before relaxing again with the changing light.

Give ‘Lemon Lime’ bright indirect light, consistent moisture and good humidity and it'll reward you with masses of beautifully patterned new growth.

OUR THOUGHTS

It's basically the green-on-green version of a Prayer Plant turned up to eleven. Deep emerald foliage, flashes of lime and beautifully symmetrical markings make every leaf look painted. Then evening arrives and the leaves start lifting upwards, because apparently looking gorgeous all day wasn't quite enough.

GROW WITH CONFIDENCE

Looking After Your Plant

Watering

Keep the growing medium lightly and consistently moist, allowing the surface to begin drying before watering again. Avoid both prolonged drought and permanently saturated soil. Marantas can be sensitive to minerals in tap water, so rainwater or filtered water can be helpful if persistent browning or crispy leaf edges develop.

Light

Give ‘Lemon Lime’ bright, indirect light to maintain strong growth and its beautiful lime-green patterning. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage and fade its markings. It can tolerate somewhat softer light, although growth may become slower.

Humidity & Temperature

Maranta ‘Lemon Lime’ appreciates medium to high humidity and warm, stable conditions. Dry air can contribute to brown or crispy leaf edges, so keep it away from radiators, cold draughts and sudden temperature changes. Good airflow is still important alongside higher humidity.

Feeding

Feed with a balanced houseplant fertiliser around once a month during active growth in spring and summer, following the manufacturer's instructions. Avoid overfeeding and reduce or stop feeding during autumn and winter when growth slows.

Repotting & Growth

Maranta ‘Lemon Lime’ has a naturally spreading growth habit, producing new stems from the base before gradually beginning to trail as it matures. Repot when noticeably root-bound, moving up only slightly in pot size and using a light, moisture-retentive but well-draining growing mix. Older or untidy stems can be trimmed to encourage fuller growth.

Pet Safety

Maranta ‘Lemon Lime’ is generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, making it a great option for pet-friendly homes. As with any houseplant, it's still sensible to discourage pets from chewing or damaging the foliage.

A NOTE FROM US

Lemon Lime likes consistency more than drama. Keep it warm, give it good humidity and aim for lightly moist soil rather than letting it completely dry out. If the leaf edges start getting crispy despite your best efforts, we'd check humidity and water quality before changing everything else.
